Today was the beginning of the battle of "having enough", mostly in reference to yesterday's post. The whining and whatnot was in full force this morning, so the Moose lost all privileges (computer, movies, outings) until the behavior improved.
What I've noticed from today is he has no real concept of long-term with his behavior. He'll stop whining and expect a full re-instatement of his fun stuff, not taking into consideration that he had been whining for an hour before that. So today began the long journey of "the behavior needs to be long-term, it needs to be consistent" and "you lost that privilege and you don't get it back". It was actually not a bad day entirely. I perservered with his nap, so he was able to attend a birthday gathering at a park. There was still a good amount of whining and whatnot, but all in all, not bad.
Me and the hubs are working together on this to battle the whines. Thank goodness for having a partner. I'm sure this won't be a quick or easy fix, but I'm in it for the long haul. I've learned with our other battles, that it's so much easier to deal with this when kids are younger versus waiting until they're older.
Let it begin. Let it begin!
